Tropic is an award-winning DMC and ecotourism company with more than 27 years’ experience in crafting custom-designed adventure, nature, and cultural travel in Ecuador, Chile and Peru. Tropic provides exclusive encounters and unique experiences for travelers who are keen to explore the variety of landscapes, cultures and adventures these destinations offer: from the enchantment of the cloud forests with their profusion of animals and birds; the lushness of the Amazon with its rivers and ancient forest peoples; the high Andes and their spectacular snow-capped mountains, clear lakes and traditional hospitality; and the incredible wonder of the Galapagos Islands, and their incomparable geography, flora and fauna.

Travel with Tropic is also about people and environments. Guests have the chance to make a connection with locals, contribute directly to conserving precious and threatened environments, help foster respect for native and traditional peoples and cultures, and support projects that provide benefits for the communities visited. Tropic’s guides make these magical moments happen.

Stephano Saá is one of Tropic’s talented guides in the Galapagos Islands who finds joy in sharing the wonders of his home with visitors from around the world.

Stephano was born in the Galapagos. He grew up on Santa Cruz Island and has enjoyed spending time in nature throughout his life. Swimming at the beach that was close of town or riding a bike were normal daily activities, with birds and sea lions making the every day fun. Stephano’s father is a naturalist guide, while his mother works at the national park – it’s a family affair! In 2007, Stephano followed his passion in sharing with other people what it is like to live in the ‘Enchanted Islands’ and became a naturalist guide.

“I like to be close to nature and share the experience with other people – every day is a new oportunity to find adventure.”

What is your favourite place to visit in your country and why?

My favorite place to visit is Floreana  because is the most isolated island in the archipelago. It has a very interesting human history and the species that you see there are unique. Also, I have fond memories of spending time swimming with the sea lions at the pier with no fear of them from when I was a kid.

What is your favourite part of your job?

I enjoy being close to the flora and fauna, so many of them being unique to the Islands. I also like  to see the landscapes and how they are diferent depending the location in the archipelago. I like to share good moments with other people because every day is a new experience and also sharing knowledge with people about the Galapagos Islands also gives me the oportunity to learn from others. Interpreting nature and always learning from this amazing place and the people that visit us is what I enjoy the most.
