New gorilla groups in Uganda

The Uganda Wildlife Authority has announced the increase in the number of mountain gorilla families for tracking from 15 to 17 following the successful habituation of the Katwe group in Buhoma and the Christmas group in Nkuringo. More available permits for travelers to trek to see the gorillas is wonderful news for tourism in Uganda.

Classic Africa Safaris confirms that they are still able to offer the gorilla habituation activity with the Rushaga group in southern Bwindi NP. As a reminder, for this activity groups are limited to just four guests who trek with the researchers and spend 4 hours with the gorillas! Permits cost $1,500 and are in high demand. Email Phil to check permit availability. Classic’s preferred accommodations in southern Bwindi are Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Gorilla Safari Lodge or Chameleon Hill Lodge.
