Northern Historic Route and Lower Omo Valley Sample Itineraries

HISTORIC ROUTE 10 DAYS/ 9 NIGHTS

Day 01: Arrival

You will be met up on arrival and be transferred to the Capital Hotel. 

Day 02: Fly Addis - Axum

Early in the Morning you will be transferred to the airport for flight to Axum. Once the center of a great empire, and the seat of learning for the ancient Ge'ez language and literature, Axum is the prime historical site in the North of Ethiopia. City tour of Axum that includes; the Stelae Park, St. Mary's Church the Sanctuary Chapel which is the repository of the 'Ark of the Covenant', the Coronation Yard, Queen of Sheba's palace ruins, Axum Museum and the quarry where the stelaes used to be made. Overnight Consolar Hotel or Sabean Hotel.

Day 03 : Excursion Yeha
This day you will drive to Yeha, a 5th century BC Temple. This temple displays incredible skills in stonework and is in fact the oldest building still standing in Ethiopia. Overnight Consolar Hotel or Sabean Hotel. 

Day 04: Fly Axum - Lalibela

Lalibela is the jewel in the crown of Ethiopia, the most famous churches and the scene of many major religious ceremonies. Lalibela and its rock hewn churches are arguably Ethiopian's top most attraction. Visit rock hewn churches. These churches include Bete Medhane Alem, Bete Mariam, Bete Meskal, Bete Denaghel, Bete Golgotha, Bete Mikael, and Bete Giorgis. Overnight at Tukul village hotel or similar.

Samrawit2Samrawit Moges Beyene received her first degree from the Addis Ababa University in Journalism and her diploma in Tourism Management in Italy. She was employed within the government Tour Company (National Tour Operation) 1982-1993. She then founded her own company –Travel Ethiopia since 1994, with 35 permanent employees, where she is a Managing Director, this is the first company in Ethiopia that has permanent female guides.
