Imvelo Safari Lodges

At Imvelo Safari Lodges, we aren’t just about luxurious lodges and there’s more to us than spectacular safaris - we believe in enriching the lives of those who live around us as well as our visitors. We are determined to ensure that it’s the local people and wildlife that directly benefit from our visitors.

Each of our safari lodges and camps has been meticulously designed to offer all your home comforts, a splash of luxury and an exciting dash of unique. On top of this, our locations have been carefully selected for two vital reasons; the local communities dedication to our conservation partnership and their proximity to some of nature’s most impressive wonders, from the famous Victoria Falls, to the mighty Zambezi River and Hwange National Park, famed for its thousands of elephants.

Gorges Lodge, Bomani Tented Lodge, and Camelthorn Lodge are built on the borders of National Parks on land that belongs to local village communities. This leads to a smaller environmental footprint in the park and provides a powerful economic benefit for local communities as well as an incentive to protect wildlife. Zambezi Sands River Camp, Nehimba Lodge and Jozibanini are located in remote areas of Zambezi  and Hwange National Parks, establishing a tourism presence to support nearby communities and reduce the threat of poaching.

Guests who stay at these unique, owner-run lodges enjoy incomparable wildlife and photographic safaris with fully qualified and highly experienced guides, guided game walks, bird watching, spectacular views and surroundings, adrenaline packed activities, luxurious accommodation, and thoughtful, friendly and attentive staff. We look forward to welcoming you to Zimbabwe!

Village and school visits and community interaction

Pounding millet during a village visit webImvelo Safari Lodges is deeply committed to bringing together local rural communities and our safari guests, for their mutual benefit. As an important component of Imvelo’s program to actually involve local communities in tourism, our guests can visit the villages near our lodges in Hwange and Victoria Falls. Hosted by one of Imvelo's local guides who are often from the local village, these unchoreographed visits provide real insights into some of the  daily lives of a typical Zimbabwean rural community. Part of the tour includes a spontaneous visit to an individual household where our guests are welcomed and invited to join some of the traditional daily activities such as crushing grain into meal, ploughing the fields and brewing beer.
